Networking
Networking can be essential when you are job hunting. It is not what
you know but who you know which so often counts in this world. Often
it is a friend of a friend of a friend who can provide that crucial
introduction. Their contact details could be invaluable. Asking for
a contact's advice rather than for a job is the most productive way
forward.
Sources of good contacts could include:
- colleagues
- ex-colleagues
- your managers
- suppliers
- competitors
- fellow course attendees
- professional association
- neighbours
- friends and each of them will have a list of contacts
- Collect business cards from people and stay in contact they might not have anything for you right now but if you are the one who keeps in contact your name will be the one they will remember
